During the summer Fano offers a variety of great music events like Fano Jazz by the Sea with international jazz musician guest stars, and the Rassegna Lirica Torelliana. The most important summer festival in Fano is by far, Fano dei Cesari, which takes places in July. This event celebrates Fano’s Roman origins and, for an entire week, the city recreates a genuine Roman era and the historical center is transformed into an epic Roman site where locals, and tourists alike, dressed up in Roman costumes, participate in numerous events and are spectators to the chariot race that takes place on an authentic replica of an ancient Roman racetrack.

Of very ancient origins, the moretta is without a doubt one of the symbols of Fano gastronomic experience. The legend says sailors invented it to keep warm and strong out in the open sea. It’s a special blend of coffee prepared with the right proportions of rum, anice and cognac with a piece of lemon peel. Representative of this city is as well the the brodetto di pesce, a fish soup celebrated with the Festival del brodetto. This dish, also of local sailor tradition, was originally a meal for the poor. In September, during the festival, you can taste this delicious fish soup characterized by a very special flavor for just 15 €.
